MUMBAI, Aug 29: An anti-terrorism police officer probing last month’s blasts that killed nearly 200 train commuters in Mumbai was found dead on railway tracks in the western Indian city, police said on Tuesday.

The body of assistant police commissioner Vinod Bhatt was recovered from the tracks near the suburbs of Dadar.

A police spokesman said the detective was hit by a speeding train late on Monday.

The spokesman ruled out foul play but did not say why Bhatt was on the busy line of a suburban train network that carries millions of commuters everyday.
