KARACHI, Feb 11: Candyland led by Zia clinched the Swiss Bridge weekly contest participated by sixteen teams and organised by Karachi Bridge Association at Aslam Bridge Hall here Sunday. The winning team consisting of Zia, Hamid, Khalid and Hasan Askari claimed the title with 104 Victory Points, winning four matches.

Candyland first blitzed Makhdoom 25-0 and then defended their second string led by Amin 22-8. The Printers were their third victim, which they won 21-9 and again collected 25-3 out pointing CNG 2000. But lost the last round match to Abedies 11-19.

Abedies won all the five matches from Tehsin 18-12, Chandna 18-12, CNG 16-14, Attackers 19-11 & Candyland (Z) 19-11, but had to contend on second position on point basis. Jawad Abidi, Iqbal Abidi, Nuri Pasha & Anwer Kizilbash represented Abedies.

The Printers comprising Ch. Sharif, Nasir, Prof Khalil and Hasan also score 90 v.p. winning three matches and were placed third.

Earlier in the Pair event Raza Naqvi, Anwer Kamal topped the senior’s group with 68 percent score followed by Gulzar Bilal 59 and Afzal Shaikh- Ghaffar 58, percent.

In the second house Tariq Zafar-Sarfaraz of KESC won the event by 63 percent score. Taqi Reza and Saeed occupied second. Qamar Pori- Memon finished third with 61 & 60 percent.—APP
