LAHORE, Feb 11: Two goals by centre-forward Mansoor Ali enabled Islamabad to beat Sindh 3-1 in the opening match of the Inter-provincial under-16 boys hockey championships at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday.

In another match, Azad Kashmir got a walkover after the team from Balochistan failed to reach Lahore.

Sindh took an early lead when spearhead Jaffar Abbas netted a field goal in the 8th minute. Sindh led at half time 1-0

After resumption, Islamabad retaliated  strongly scoring three goals within six minutes to turn the tables on Sindh.

Mansoor Ali equalised with a field goal in the 56th minute . A minute later, centre-half Shahid Maqbool converted a penaly stroke.

Mansoor struck his second goal in the 62nd minute to complete the win.

The championship is being played on knock out system. Islamabad will play Punjab and Azad Kashmir play NWFP on Tuesday. The winners will play the final on Wednesday.
