KARACHI, Aug 23: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that the spirit of public service infused through the new local government system has played an important role in providing desired relief to the people.

“The relationship between federal, provincial and local governments is playing a positive role when it is the question of provision of facilities to people”, he said while inaugurating Kokan Ground in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town on Tuesday night.

Ishratul Ibad referred to challenges of poverty alleviation and end to unemployment and said the strategy chalked out by the government provided ways and means towards meeting these challenges.

He announced that shortly 45,000 jobs would be offered to the unemployed youth.

He said investment in private sector was also growing fast while demand for manpower in information technology sector was rising.

The government, he said, was taking concrete measures on scientific basis and was laying a network of industries throughout the province.

In Nooriabad, 78 industries were in operation while their number was also increasing in the SITE area, he said.

The governor said that all these measures were reflective of the government efforts in carrying facilities to people at their doorstep. He said the steps were in line with the government’s pledge to bring Karachi under international focus.—APP
