HANGU, Feb 11: Police registered cases against eight detaines when the district Nazim and his deputy paid a surprise visit to the Hangu police station on Sunday.

Though the accused were in the lock-up for the last one week, no case had been registered against them. They were allegedly involved in thefts.

When the elected representatives raided the police station, the detainees informed them that the police had lodged them in the lock-up illegally as no case had been registered against any one of them for the last one week. The cases were registered on the directive of the Nazim.

AIOU BRIEFING: The regional director of Allama Iqbal Open University, Saeed Ahmad Chaudhry, said on Sunday that the university was disseminating education to those who could not find any opportunity to go to a formal educational institution.

He was talking at a briefing held for tutors at Ideal Public School.

He urged the participants to make concerted efforts from the AIOU platform to improve the standard of education in the remote parts of the country.
