HYDERABAD, Feb 11: PML (QA) leader Liaquat Jatoi has dispelled the impression that his party had entered into any deal with the government.

Talking to newsmen at his Latifabad residence on Monday, he hoped that his party would emerge victorious.

Mr Jatoi said that deals were signed in business and not in politics and reiterated that he had not returned to Pakistan under any deal.

He said that he had not allotted a single inch of land to any one when he was the chief minister and no FIR had been registered against him.

Answering a question about election alliance, he said that some understanding could possibly be reached with the Sindh Democratic Alliance.

About the merger of various factions of the Muslim league, Mr Jatoi said that the central leadership of the party could take a final decision in this regard.

He said that the condition of graduate for the national assembly candidates should be postponed in view of the low literacy rate.

Mr Jatoi was of the opinion that political differences should not be construed as personal enmity and added that defeat in election should always be accepted without any grudge.

He said that due to its misdeeds, the PPP had lost its popularity and the coming elections would prove the fact.

The government had taken some good steps which must be acknowledged, he said.

Mr Jatoi said that national integrity should be our only priority, as the Indian forces were massed on our borders.

He also spoke at a function hosted in his honour in GOR colony on Sunday night.

He said that his party did not believe in hallow slogans.

He claimed that the PML (QA) enjoyed the support of the masses and added that the party would not compromise on the interest of the people.

STPP: The Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party, (STPP), will resume the second phase of its protest from Feb 19 against the influx and rehabilitation of Afghan refugees in Sindh, theft of River Indus water by Punjab, division of Sindh on the pretext of creating more provinces and foreign companies’ reluctance to recruit local people.

This was announced by the party spokesman Muzaffar Kalhoro here on Monday

He said that protest meetings would be held at the district headquarters to mobilize public opinion on these issues.
