LARKANA: Nazim urged to step down

Published August 19, 2006

LARKANA, Aug 18: Fifty-six pro-Sindh National Front nazims, naib nazims and councillors urged pro-government district nazim to step down voluntarily else they would request the chief election commissioner to dismiss him and hold fresh elections for the post.

District Nazim Mohammed Bakhsh Arijo should tender his resignation in accordance with established democratic norms after his party announced it was pulling out of a pre-polls agreement with the SNF, which put him in the nazim’s seat, said the pro-SNF members who met at Mumtaz Bhutto’s residence on Friday.

He should better go after he lost their support, they advised.
