KARACHI: Janam Ashtamy

KARACHI, Aug 16: The Hindu community in the city, like elsewhere around the globe, celebrated their annual festival of Janam Ashtamy to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.

Special meetings were held in all the temples of the city on Wednesday whereas the main congregation was held at the Swami Narayan Temple, opposite the KMC Building on M. A. Jinnah Road, in the evening.

Scholars and leaders of the Hindu community on the occasion urged devotees to follow the teachings of Lord Krishna. Special prayers were offered for the solidarity and integrity of Pakistan and prosperity of the community. Bhajan, religious songs, were also sung. Langer (free meals) was distributed among the devotees who participated in the ceremonies and congregations.
