KARACHI, Feb 11: Five ships carrying general cargo and containers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Ship movements at the wharves were active where over a dozen ships were berthed and sailed out but berth occupancy at the dry wharves fell below the 50 per cent mark, while on the BOPs it rose to 67 per cent thanks to larger callings of tankers.

Five ships, Sagar, Mildburg, Sainta Govanna and Hyundai Bridge to unload and load containers, Golden Gate to offload crude oil and Al-Maqwa to offload high speed diesel were berthed after the sailing of seven.

The departing ships were led by MSC Alpana, X-Press Dualagiri, Kota Segar, Hyundai Bridge, Haul Trooper, Kyriakos-M and Bunga Siantan, while Bunga Mastan, Golden Gate, Kota Ratu, Sagar and Al-Maqwa are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Owing to larger handling of the liquid tonnage, the total cargo handled rose to 0.116 million tons comprising 8,110 tons of export cargo and 0.108 million tons of import tonnage including 86,930 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Athenian Valour, with crude oil Charlotte Schulte, Global Progress, and Wan Hai-235, with containers, and Darfur with general cargo.
