MARDAN, Aug 13: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has announced Rs50 million for flood victims in Mardan district.
Addressing a public meeting at the Punjab Regiment Centre during his visit on Sunday, the prime minister said that the government would utilise its full resources to mitigate the sufferings of the flood victims.
The meeting was attended by a large number of people, councillors and nazimeen and people of the area.
Provincial Governor Ali Jan Mohammad Aurakzai, Chief Minister Akram Durrani, federal and provincial ministers and District Nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar also attended the meeting.
Prime Minister Aziz said that the federal, provincial and district governments would manage relief and rehabilitation activities in the flood-hit areas.
The prime minister praised the patience of the people and urged the people and political leaders to rise above their party affiliations to help the flood victims.
Recent flash floods had washed away a bridge in Mardan city, killing at least 44 people. The rains also flooded various localities areas and the floodwaters entered houses and government buildings, incurring huge losses to the people. — Correspondent
