KARACHI, Aug 12: Country’s leading golfer Mohammad Munir, who was two strokes behind overnight leader, carded a magnificent five-under-par 67 for an aggregate seven under 137 to top the leader board at the close of second round in the 54-hole Sindh Open Golf Championship at the Arabian Sea Country Club on Saturday.
Munir who was tied for third with Shakeel Rehmati and M. Javed at 70 leaped to top position with two strokes edge pushing first round leader M. Sajid to the fourth place.
Imdad who plays at Garrison Club Lahore opened his campaign with one-over-par 73 and shot the bogey-free round of six-under-par 66 for a total of five under 139 to settle for second place.
At third spot is Akhtar Ali who logged a one-under-par 71 with a total of 140.
At 141 is opening day’s leader M. Sajid who shot a one-over-par 73.
Shahid Javed Khan, a former national champion now turned pro, fired a two- under-par 70 to be tied for the fifth place with Matloob Ahmed at 144.
Overnight joint leader Waseem Rana emerged as a sole leader in amateur category with a gross 147 to be followed by Sajid Khan at 149 and Mohammad Ali Hai 152.
Meanwhile, the organisers reversed their opening day’s decision in which they disqualified Hai for a breach of rule.
Manzoor Ahmed of Lahore Gymkhana won the 36-hole senior professionals title with scores of 152 (78,74) followed by Hasan Akhtar (157).
The three-day championship concludes on Sunday.
