KARACHI, Aug 12: Bandits took away 28 vehicles and 31mobile phones in various localities of the city on Saturday.

Police sources said two cars were snatched at gunpoint, and eight were stolen in different parts of the city, mostly from Saddar and Gulshan-i-Iqbal area.

Sources said seven motorcycles were snatched by the bandits and 11 two-wheelers were reported stolen in Gulshan, Nazimabad and Saddar areas.

Similarly, police said 14 cell phones were taken away by bandits and the same number of sets were stolen while three cell phones were reported missing.

The ACLC on Saturday arrested a member of a gang involved in illegal sale of cars, leased by banks after hiring them. The ACLC also recovered 12 cars on his disclosure.

Police said Farasat Khan and others, including Aal Humayoun and Asif Mirza, used to sell cars on cheap prices after hiring them in various places.

The registration numbers of the recovered cars are: AEF-700 Toyota Corolla, AGJ-123 Toyota Corolla, AEJ-459 Toyota Corolla, AKC-542 Honda Civic, AGN-730 Suzuki Cultus, AJU-131 Toyota Corolla, AFC-439 Suzuki Cultus, AJT-561 Honda City, AKS-889 Toyota Corolla, AJN-744 Honda Civic, AJA-560 Suzuki Alto and AEE-225 Toyota Corolla.

Separately, the ACLC also conducted raid and arrested one Abdul Rehman alias Gora. The ACLC also recovered three stolen motorcycles from his possession.
