Pakistan complete 4-1 rout of Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10: Pakistan assured of victory Saturday having clinched the doubles tie to take an unbeatable 3-0 lead against Malaysia in the Asia-Oceania Zone 2 lost a single but completed 4-1 triumph Sunday.

Pakistan will now meet Taiwan in the second round after the later gained an identical 4-1 success over Hong Kong.

Nomi Qamar given a chance as Pakistan rested its top player Aisam ul Haq in the reverse singles took the opportunity and overwhelmed Adam Jaya in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Never in the one-sided match Nomi appeared to be in trouble of losing.

But Pakistan missed the chance of making 5-0 sweep when Asim Shafik who won his opening match lost to Si Yew Ming in the final singles.

Pakistan 4 Malaysia 1
