KARACHI, July 20: The Fishermen Cooperative Society has decided to make a payment of Rs10 million to the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority, on account of the port facilities the FCS had been using, as per the agreement reached between the two organisations earlier.According to an FCS statement issued here on Thursday, the decision had been taken at a meeting of its board of directors at the fish harbour. The meeting was presided over by its chairman Faqir Mohammad Jadam Mangrio.

According to the statement, the Society’s other disputes with the Authority would also be resolved later on.

It further said that the previous agreement with the KFHA would be amended and presented to the board in its next meeting for approval.

The meeting also reviewed the arrangements being made for the upcoming visit to the harbour by a European Union team.

The FCS chairman separately held a meeting with mole-holders and asked them to pay to the FCS more than Rs100 million collectively outstanding against them. He also took a serious notice of the issuance of bogus gate-passes and warned that action would be taken against anyone found guilty of indulging in such practices.

The meeting also selected two new directors, Ahmed Zamir Khan Advocate as a government nominee, and Haji Mohammad Younus, from among the elected directors, adds APP.
