KARACHI, July 20: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where five ships scheduled to load and offload containers, canola seeds, sugar and furnace oil were berthed at QICT, MPT and FOTCO Oil Terminal during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday.

Three ships sailed out, while two ships carrying containers and coke arrived at the outer anchorage.

Eight ships, San Clemente, Bavaria Express, MSC Samia, El-Tango, Alabanda, Chem Adriatic, Ottawa and Elka Vasiliki are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, sugar, canola seeds, edible oil, diesel oil and furnace oil.

Cargo handling showed an upward trend where a cargo volume of 82,094 tons comprising 64,805 tons import cargo and 17,289 tons export cargo was handled during the last 24 hours.

Chem Adriatic, San Clemente and Ottawa sailed out, while Bavaria Express and MSC Samia are expected to sail on Thursday. Four ships, QIA Al-Fuja'a, Gallant Wave, Stolt Avance and Hau Shan Hai, are expected to take berths on Thursday.

Yanaseni, Cheery Galaxy and MSC Eleonora, with chemicals, edible oil and containers, are due to arrive at the port on Friday, while Kou Chang, Oel Aishwarya, Xiang Wan and Amasis are due to arrive on Saturday.

The following ships are currently at the outer anchorage: Nedlloyd Muscat, QIA Al-Fuja'a, Hau Shan Hai, Adrekni and Pos Dignity, to load and unload containers, coke, sugar and canola seeds.
