HYDERABAD, Feb 9: Head constable Nadir, who was complainant in the murder case of the SHO, GOR police station, Ghulam Mustafa Shahani, and medico legal officer Dr Abdul Hanan Shaikh recorded their statements before Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abdul Ghafoor Memon here on Saturday.
The doctor told the court that he conducted the autopsy along with a team of doctors and the body was identified by the colleagues of the deceased police officer. The body was handed over to the police along with the postmortem report.
The complainant said that the police party, led by SHO Ghulam Mustafa Shahani, had gone to the residence of Akhtar Jamali to arrest him and Ghaffar Chandio in connection with crime no 47/97, lodged with the GOR police station.
He said that Karim Soho instigated the other accused to attack the policemen and not to let them go alive. He pointed out that Ghaffar Chandio fired on the SHO, who suffered bullet injuries and was taken to the civil hospital. The GOR police were informed about the incident.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abdul Ghafoor Memon on Friday framed charges against 12 activists of the SPSF (SB) in the murder case of Ghulam Mustafa Shahani, SHO, GOR police station, who was gunned down on Dec 1, 1997, in the area of the Bhittai Naggar police station.
The accused included Aijaz Domki, Azizur Rehman, Noor Khoso, Iqbal Bhutto, Karim Soho, Waheed Mahar, Waheed Shah, Ghaffar Chandio, Suleman Memon, Deedar Bughio, Khamiso Khaskheli and Mohammad Ali Khoso.
Ashraf Jamali, brother of Akhtar Jamali, a leader of the PPP (SB) youth wing is still absconding.
SPSF: Witnesses in the double murder case of SPSF activists Aftab Alam Shoro and Niaz Morai, did not identify Ameer Bux Umrani, vice president of the PPP (SB), Sindh, during inside trial of the case at the central jail on Saturday.
Shoro and Morai were gunned down in Tandojam while Zulfikar Ali was injured.
The case was lodged at the Tandojam police station against Ameer Bux Umrani and Hassan Rajar.
The case was adjourned to Feb 28.
