NAROWAL: Sialkot Express rammed into a tractor-trolley that broke down right in the middle of the railway track at a level-crossing near Ahmedabad railway station, while its drive fled the scene, leaving the vehicle there.

As per railway officials, no train passenger was hurt in the incident occurring on Monday.

The official sources say that Sialkot Express train, going from Lahore to Wazirabad, collided with a tractor-trolley that had broken down and was abandoned by it driver on the track at Ram Dhandsa level-crossing near Ahmedabad railway station.

They say that the impact of the collision was so intense that the tractor broke apart in three pieces. However, they say, because of the alertness of the train driver, who timely applied the brakes, no passenger was hurt.

As per locals, after failing to restart the tractor, its unidentified driver got panicked on seeing the fast-approaching train, and fled the scene, leaving the vehicle on the track.

On being informed, teams of railway police and officials concerned reached the spot and cleared the track, allowing the train to continue its journey to Wazirabad station. The railway police impounded the badly-damaged tractor-trolley, and initiated legal proceedings against the fleeing driver.
