TAXILA: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that welfare initiatives such as mass marriage ceremonies serve as a ray of hope for underprivileged segments of society and vowed that no deserving girl in his constituency would be left deprived of marriage due to financial hardships.

He made these remarks while addressing a mass marriage ceremony held in Fatehjang on Saturday, where 120 deserving girls were married and sent off in a dignified manner amid an emotional and festive atmosphere. All household items of dowry were also gifted to the couples.

The governor announced that another large-scale collective marriage ceremony of 500 couples would be organized after Eidul Azha following the completion of the registration process for deserving families.

He further revealed that the next phase of the welfare initiative would target 500 collective marriages, aimed at extending financial and social support to low-income families struggling with marriage expenses.

Sardar Saleem Haider Khan emphasised that helping deserving families and ensuring dignified marriages for daughters from economically weaker backgrounds was a collective social responsibility.

He said such programmes not only ease the financial burden on families but also strengthen social solidarity and compassion within society.

The governor said that although he could not completely eliminate inflation, he would continue playing his role in reducing the hardships faced by people.

He said that dialysis and thalassemia centres had already been established in Attock, where patients are treated free of cost.

He also announced the establishment of a modern mother and child healthcare center in Jand, along with the installation of water filtration plants in different areas to provide clean drinking water.

He further said that electric bus services had already been launched from Hassanabdal and Fatehjang to provide modern and affordable transportation facilities to the public.

The governor said that his office is a trust of the people, and he would continue to fulfill this responsibility with honesty and dedication to public service.

The ceremony was attended by political and social personalities, local administration officials, and a large number of citizens, who appreciated the initiative and termed it a positive step towards public welfare and social uplift.
