A police spokesperson said the encounter took place between the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) and suspects near Bagh-i-Bahar Nursery when they signalled a SUV to stop. The suspects opened fire and tried to speed away.
In an exchange of fire, one suspect, identified as Abdul Ahad, was killed, while another, Mohammed Ali Khan, was wounded. Their third accomplice managed to escape.
Police said they recovered a pistol with ammunition and seized an SUV from the suspects’ possession.
The deceased and wounded were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
