Man, four sons booked for attacking Lesco staffer

OKARA: A man along with his four sons have been booked for allegedly torturing a Lesco meter reader, snatching official equipment including cell phones, and cash after he recorded a video of electricity theft at the suspect’s house.

According to the FIR, Lesco Akhtarabad sub-division meter reader Mohabbat Ali was recording readings in the batch no 8 area in Akhtarabad of Renala tehsil.

During this, the official found that electricity was being stolen from a house of one Muhammad Ishaq through a direct connection.

He also found that a 4.11KW supply worth Rs60,000 was being used to steal electricity.

It claimed that Muhammad Ishaq along with his sons carrying clubs and axes came and overpowered the Lesco staffer and inflicted multiple strikes on various parts of his body including the head.

It said that when he raised a hue and cry, locals managed to rescue him from the suspects. After calling the helpline 15, police reached the spot.

The first information report (FIR) further claimed that the suspects snatched a departmental cell phone, the victim’s personal cell phone, a meter reading selfie stick and Rs40,000 cash.

Mohabbat Ali was shifted to the Renala Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital and a medico-legal certificate was issued by the hospital.

On the complaint of Sub Divisional Officer Altaf Hussain, the Renala Saddar Police registered a case against Muhammad Ishaq and his sons Fayyaz, Riaz, Ijaz and Shahbaz.
