Three injured in Bajaur over dispute

BAJAUR: Three people, including two women, were injured after rival groups traded fire over a pathway dispute in a hilly area of the Barang tehsil of Bajaur district on Saturday.

Police and residents said that members of one group armed with rifles, stones and sticks allegedly attacked the houses of their rivals in the Nazar Mena area, triggering a clash that lasted several hours.

Residents told Dawn that three people, including two women, were injured in the clash. The police and elders intervened to stop the fighting.

An official of the Barang police station said that the situation was brought under control after a contingent of the police was deployed to the area.

District police officer Mohammad Khalid said that an investigation had been launched.
