KARACHI, June 28: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, citing fear of ‘moral corruption’, has requested the speaker of the Sindh Assembly to ensure a distance between treasury and opposition benches.
According to a handout issued here on Wednesday, Dr Arbab has written to the speaker that due to the present seating arrangement where the coalition members sit close to the opposition members, there is a danger of moral corruption of the treasury members. “They may affect the morality of our members,” he maintained.
Dr Arbab has pointed out that some treasury members have their seats within the vicinity of the opposition benches and it is feared that the coalition members may get their reputation harmed, hence, they should be allotted separate seats.
In a separate letter addressed to the treasury members, the chief minister has strictly directed them to keep themselves away from the opposition benches, observing that the opposition members do not have good moral character. “They may harm your reputation by levelling mean allegations,” he has remarked.
The chief minister has also advised all treasure members not to mix up with opposition members, in view of the recent incident in the house, so that a congenial atmosphere may be ensured.—PPI
