KARACHI, Jun 28: Pakistan has huge potential to become economic leader in Asia as its consistent trade and economic policies are most favourable in the region.
Pakistan's fast growing economy and its strategic location as regional hub, having a large consumer market and abundant natural resources, talented, entrepreneurial and skilled labour, and liberal investment-friendly policies offered enormous opportunity for foreign investors, said Ireneusz Makles, Consul-General of Poland in Karachi, while speaking to members of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry here on Wednesday.
He said Pakistan was an important partner of Poland in South East Asia. Poland is interested in further development of relations with Pakistan in all fields. “Poland and Pakistan has a good tradition of cooperation for over 43 years, but their capabilities in developing economic and trade relations are not fully utilised.”
He said Poland was keen to expand its ties with Pakistan in trade and economy, especially in gas and oil, energy, infrastructure, maritime, engineering and food processing sectors, as well as development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“Poland could supply electric equipment, including diesel generators, railway equipment, agriculture machinery and spare parts, heavy vehicles and marine and diesel engines. Our countries should also focus on the development of projects in agriculture, water supply, sewage treatment plants, resource management and transfer of new technology,” the CG added.
“Vast opportunities for joint ventures existed in the field of textile, leather, furniture, clothing, construction, food processing, hotels, beverages, pro-ecology projects and building materials,” he added.—APP
