Holder Punjab meet Khairpur for title

LAHORE, Feb 8: The defending champions Punjab University and Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur qualified for the final of the Inter-Varsity badminton championship final at the Islamia College, Civil Lines courts Friday.

Earlier, the best of three quarter-finals were also held in the morning.

The semi-finals were of the best of five.

In the first pre-final, Punjab University defeated Mehran Engineering University 3-0 while Shah Latif University Khairpur struggled to beat Sindh University 3-1 in the other pre-final.

Results:

QUARTERFINALS: Mehran Engineering University beat Quaid-i-Awam University, Nawabshah 2-0 (Asif Husain bt Zeeshan 15-12, 15-11; Asif-Jagdesh bt Zeeshan-Mushtaq 15-11, 15-3).

Sindh University defeated Sir Syed Engineering University, Karachi 2-0 (Imran Mohib bt Naveed 15-5, 15-11; Imran-Anwar Butt bt Naveed-Farhan 15-3, 15-3.

Shah Latif University, Khairpur bt Karachi University 2-0 ( Ahsan Qamar conceded the match to Wajid Ali after retired hurt in the second game with score of 8-15, 6-6; Wajid-Nauman Skindar bt Asadullah Aleem-Ahsan 15-9, 15-6).

SEMIFINALS: Punjab University defeated Mehran Engineering University 3-0 (Abdul Wadood bt Asif Husain 15-10, 15-4; Imran Laeeq-Wadood bt Asif-Shams 15-9, 15-12; Kamran Ahmad bt Jagdesh 15-6, 15-2).

Shah Latif University, Khairpur defeated Sindh University 3-1 (Ishtiaq lost to Imran Mohib 10-15, 13-15; Nauman-Wajid Chaudhary bt Imran-Adil 15-3, 15-2; Wajid Chaudhary bt Anwar Butt 15-13, 15-10; Nauman Sikandar bt Imran Husain 15-5, 15-5).
