12 killed in bus-van collision

HYDERABAD, June 20: Twelve people were killed and 14 others, nine of them women and children, injured in a collision between a bus and a van in the Husri police area on Tuesday.

The Mullah Katiyar-bound bus collided head-on with the van, which was coming to Hyderabad from Sujawal.

The deceased were identified as Munir Ahmed, Manzoor Ali, Liaquat Ali, Akbar Ali, van driver Aftab, Allah Bachayo, Haroon, Abdul Ghafoor, Zahid Sheikh and Noorullah.

Identity of a man, who died in the accident, could not be ascertained.

The bus and van were completely destroyed and were impounded by police.

The driver of the bus, who was unhurt in the incident, escaped.

Those who died were travelling in the van while the injured were bus passengers.

Some of the injured were taken to a hospital in Tando Mohammad Khan while three of them were brought to the civil hospital here.
