CHINIOT, June 12: A murder accused was shot dead in police custody on court premises here Monday. The police were bringing handcuffed Jehangir to the court when his rival, Saeed, opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

The killer tried to escape, but he was overpowered by passersby and handed over to the police.

Later, the lawyers boycotted the courts in protest against the killing on the court premises.

WORKSHOP: A six-day training workshop for schoolteachers, held under the aegis of the Punjab Education Foundation, concluded here on Monday.

Addressing the participants, the Idara Taleem-o-Agahi coordinator said some 35 teachers were trained on the subjects of science, mathematics, English and classroom administration in the workshop.
