KARACHI, June 8: Stakeholders of the ‘Education City’ have assured Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman that they would present a master plan, duly approved by all of them, for the project to facilitate the constitution of an administrative body and infrastructure development.

A high-level meeting chaired by the chief secretary decided that on the basis of the master plan, an effective strategy would be adopted to move the matters ahead.

The meeting, held here on Thursday, discussed various matters concerning the Education City project, for which Deh Chauhar, on the outskirts of Karachi, had been selected as the project site and a notification to this effect had been issued by the Sindh government on March 9.

The Education City envisages establishment of education and health facilities. Its stakeholders include Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology (SZABIST), Aga Khan University, Dr Ziauddin Medical University and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Hospital.

Representatives of the stakeholders assured the meeting of their full cooperation in the execution of the project.

The chief secretary told them that the government would also extend its full cooperation.

Vice-Chancellor of Dr Ziauddin Medical University Shahid Aziz Siddiqui, Secretary Education Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha, Secretary (LU) Khalid Mehmood Soomro, President of the Aga Khan University Fayaz Rasool, Director of the Sir Syed University G. D. Soomro were among those who attended the meeting.—APP/PPI
