BAHAWALPUR: Four men allegedly attempted to rape two women in separate incidents in Vehari and Multan districts on Tuesday.
In one incident, three persons allegedly attempted to rape a married field worker in the presence of her minor child in village 277/EB in the limits of Gaggo Mandi police station in Vehari.
According to police, one ‘H’ along with her minor son was working in the fields when a man of the same village along with his two accomplices allegedly started sexually harassing her. The men allegedly tried to take the victim to nearby fields on gunpoint with an intention to rape her.
People came to the scene on hearing the victim’s screams and her child’s cries, which prompted the suspects to flee.
The woman claimed that the accused used to tease her by making lewd gestures and harassed her. Police, on the complaint of her husband, registered a case against the suspects, who were yet to be arrested.
In another incident, a neighbour attempted to rape a housewife in her house near Sahoora Chowk in the limits of Multan Saddar police station.
Police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the victim’s husband. In his complaint, he alleged that his neighbour barged into his house and attempted to rape his wife. The suspect fled the scene when his wife screamed for help.
Police have yet to arrest the suspect.
SUICIDE: One Muhammad Ahmed Jatt, a father of two, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous pills in Mohalla Gharibabad in Mailsi on Tuesday.
Police claimed that he committed suicide due to financial and domestic troubles. After completing formalities, police handed over the body of the deceased to his parents.
ABDUCTED: Seven persons, including two women and four nominated suspects, allegedly abducted a minor girl from her house in village 30/WB in the limits of Vehari Saddar police station.
According to police officials, Allah Ditta, a shopkeeper, complained that seven persons including Aftab, Shahid and two women Aqsa and Nasreen Bibi, allegedly abducted his minor daughter Samreen from his house in his absence. Police registered an abduction case and were investigating.
ACCIDENTS: Two motorcyclists were killed in separate road accidents in Bahawalpur and Ahmedpur East on Tuesday.
According to Rescue 1122, in one accident a motorcyclist, identified as Muzamil Ahmed (20), was killed in a head-on collision with an over-speeding coach at the Darbarwali Pulli Chowk near Gulzar Mahal. Police claimed to have arrested the driver, while the body of the deceased was shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).
In the second accident, a motorcyclist died after getting hit by a coach near Adda Zahirpir in Ahmedpur East tehsil.
Rescue 112 said that one of the coach’s luggage compartments was open and it hit the motorcyclists identified as Mahar Fayyaz (40). As a result, Fayyaz died on the spot due to a head injury.
His body was shifted to Ahmedpur East THQ Hospital, while the police took the driver into custody.
