HYDERABAD, Feb 7: The activists of various socials welfare organizations under the banner of Bhandar Rabita Council staged a protest demonstration and hunger strike outside the press club here on Thursday against the kidnapping of Raj Kumar, son of Dewan Gagan Das.

Talking to newsmen, Comrade Jam Saqi, Ghulam Hussain Malookani and Mitho Khan Malookani said that Raj Kumar was kidnapped one week back but the Hyderabad police had made no efforts for his recovery.

They demanded of the Sindh governor and Hyderabad Zila Nazim to direct the police to recover Raj Kumar.

HUNGER STRIKE: The activists of the Sindhi Hari Tahrik (SHT) staged a token hunger strike outside the press club on the second consecutive day here on Thursday.

They are protesting against the murder of Gul Bano Dahari, a worker of Sindhhiani Tahrik, in Goth Karamullah Dahri, Sanghar district.

Talking to newsmen, the general secretary of the SHT Vishno Mall alleged that Shahdadpur police had taken Rs200,000 from the murderers of Gul Bano and disposed of the case as B class (false).

They warned that if the murderers were not arrested, they would continue their protest.

STRIKE CALLED OFF: The employees of Hyderabad, Latifabad and Qasimabad taluka councils called off their hunger strike on the 9th day after they were assured by the Naib Nazim, City taluka, Abdul Qadeer Naghar, that their salaries would be paid soon.

The employees had been protesting against the non-payment of their salaries for Dec 2001 and Jan 2002.
