KARACHI, May 20: Three children died after a wall of a house in shantytown collapsed in Pirabad here on Saturday. Police said that four children were playing near a wall of a house in Pahar Ganj in Pirabad police limits when the wall collapsed on them. Three of the four children identified as Suleman Osman, Kashif Osman, and Rahim Khalil died on the spot. The fourth child Asif suffered injuries. The dead and the injured were taken to a hospital where Asif is stated to be in serious condition.

Police termed it an accident and said that most of the houses in the locality were built without any planning. The bodies were handed over to families of the deceased after legal formalities.

Meanwhile, three people who had been burned in an accidental fire three days back died at the Civil Hospital on Saturday.

Police said that an 18-seater coaster carrying people from Orangi Town to Korangi caught fire near Bara Board on May 17. Police said that a bunch of fire crackers was kept beneath one of the seats and smouldering cigarette ignited the fire. Eighteen people received burns and 13 of them were admitted to the hospital.

Three of the serious injured, identified as Shakil Akram, 28, Muneer Muzammil, 40, and Imran, 22, succumbed to wounds at the hospital on Saturday.

LIQUOR SEIZED: An attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of foreign liquor by a fishing launch Al-Hameed was foiled by the Maritime Security Agency with the collaboration of the Pakistan Customs (Preventive Collectorate), adds PPI.

The boat carrying 29,000 bottles/ cans of foreign branded liquor was seized and seven crewmembers were held.
