If we had a crystal ball, we would see that the slew of tariffs by US President Donald Trump would have repercussions far beyond what can be identified at present, including the re-ordering of international supply chains. Not among the least local impacts is the possibly mercurial interest in Pakistan’s oil resources. In the immediate term, though, online shoppers may rejoice as the 5pc tax imposed on foreign tech firms and online platforms that supply digitally ordered goods and services is removed to secure the US trade deal.
