BAJAUR: A police official was martyred when unknown assailants opened fire at him in War Mamund tehsil here on Tuesday.

Police sources and local residents said Mohammad Badahah Khan, 48, was attacked when he was performing duty in front of the Umary police station.

They said the cop was critically injured and was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar. After first aid, the doctors referred him to a hospital in Peshawar due to his critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries en route,” a police official said.

District police officer Waqas Rafique said they had launched search for the attackers, and an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.
