KHYBER: A woman was critically injured when terrorists opened fire at her when she refused to offer them food in Tirah Valley on Tuesday.

Sources in the region said that a group of armed terrorists barged into a house in Kamarkhel area of the mountainous Takhtaki region after a woman refused to open the door of her house as no male member of the family was present at that time.

They said the enraged terrorists resorted to direct fire at the woman when she refused to provide food to them, which they demanded after their forced entry into her house.

The sources said the woman, wife of Yar Wali, received critical injuries and was rushed by her neighbours to a nearby health facility only after the terrorists left the vicinity.

They said owner of the house was not present at his house as he had gone to Bara, while his teenage son was also away.

The house owner demanded of the security forces to take action against the terrorists involved in the incident.

The residents condemned the incident as a violation of tribal code and tradition as terrorists not only entered a house where there were no male members but also opened fire on an unarmed woman.
