THERE is a statue of the Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah facing the rising sun on the uptrack of Sharea Faisal near Karsaz. No doubt, the Quaid in black sherwani, white shalwar, a cap and decent footwear looks as graceful as ever. As such, commuters passing by the statue silently pay their homage and tribute to the founding father.

Yet, the carelessness of the authorities responsible for keeping the statue in good shape saddens me, although this national monument ought to be kept and main-tained perfectly at all times.

The relevant authorities should take proper care of the statue as the accu-mulating dirt has turned the black sherwani dusty, and the white spots of bird-droppings add to the problem.

Now all we need is a little care that will not only lengthen the age of the statue of the Father of the nation, but will also ensure a graceful look at all times.
