SARGODHA: Three people, including PPP district president of women wing, were shot dead when armed assailants opened fire on a house near Mills Gate in Mandi Town, Bhakkar, and fled the scene on Sunday.

Police said the victims were targeted by opponents in what appears to be a case of personal or political rivalry. Rescue 1122, police and forensic teams arrived at the site soon after the attack. The bodies were shifted to hospital for postmortem examination while police began collecting evidence from the crime scene.

The deceased were identified as: Syeda Samra Batool, aged between 40 and 45, of Chhinna city; Muhammad Irfan, 40, resident of the area near Punjab College, Bhakkar, and Sanaullah, 24, of Chak No 34 TDA.

Police said investigations are under way and multiple angles, including political rivalry, are being looked into.
