SAHIWAL: Eight armed suspects kidnapped a man, shaved his head and mustache, made the video and extorted Rs75,000 from him before releasing him after receiving Rs250,000 ransom from his family at Chak 94/6-R.
The incident was the result of a family dispute between Allah Ditta, a driver from Bahawalnagar, and Muhammad Ashraf of Noor Shah, Islampura. On June 9, Allah Ditta’s sister, Majain Bibi, invited him to her house at Noor Shah for negotiation where he was forcefully abducted by his rivals Muhammad Ashraf, his wife Razia Bibi, Ikram, Shahzeb Bodla and three unidentified individuals. They shaved his head and face, made a video and detained him in an abandoned house for three days.
They later sent the video to his son, Ali, demanding Rs500,000 in exchange for his release, threatening to post the footage on social media.
Ali and his cousin, Muhammad Habib, rushed to Sahiwal and negotiated with Ashraf, eventually settling on a Rs250,000 ransom amount. Allah Ditta was released following the transaction.
Ali reported the matter Farid Town and a case was registered on the complaint of Majain Bibi. Police arrested three suspects and investigations are going on.
