RAWALPINDI: The garrison city police has sent 19 cases to the newly constituted crime control department (CCD) for further investigation.

According to sources, the CCD had requested the city police officer Rawalpindi on five different occasions during the last and current month to send the case files of different heinous cases.

The cases include two murders – one involving a robbery/murder case of Rawat police station registered on May 18 and the other too was registered with the Rawat police on June 4.

Beside the two murder cases, 14 theft and one house burglary cases registered with Morgah police on April 25. Following the request by the CCD, the case files were sent to the Regional Officer Crime Control Department Rawalpindi for investigation. The additional inspector general of police CCD Punjab, RPO Rawalpindi, divisional SPs and SHOs concerned had been intimated about the cases sent to the CCD.

The Punjab Police has established a Crime Control Department (CCD) to combat organised crime and enhance security in the province. The CCD is tasked with tackling major drug dealers, dangerous criminals, and those operating in “no-go areas,” as well as investigating cases of kidnapping, extortion, and robbery, murder and rape.

The department aims to use technology and advanced crime data management to achieve its goals.
