BAHREIN (Persian Gulf): Only six of the 51 people on board are believed to have survived when an Air France …airliner, caught in a Persian Gulf monsoon, crashed off Bahrein in darkness early today [June 13]. … The plane, a Skymaster DC 4, from Saigon to Paris, left Karachi yesterday. It sent a last message ten minutes before it was due to land at Bahrein saying it was flying very low in bad weather over heavy seas.

[Meanwhile, according to a staff reporter in Karachi,] Twenty-seven-year-old Fl|Lt M.A. Aziz of the RPAF was handed over to the Karachi Police by the RPAF authorities … on Tuesday [June 10]. Fl|Lt Aziz is alleged to be responsible for the episode … at Clifton in which two Parsi schoolgirls lost their lives on Friday last. The accused was locked-up at the New Town Police Station where he is awaiting his trial under Section 304 PPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).

A Press note issued by the Ministry of Defence … says: As a result of the investigation held by RPAF authorities, the Commander-in-Chief, RPAF, has decided to hand over the case to the civil authorities for further investigation and action.
