DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The administration of Tank district has said it has intensified efforts to ensure improved transport services in response to public complaints.

Assistant commissioner Mohammad Anwar and additional assistant commissioner (revenue) Saifullah Jan conducted surprise visits to multiple bus terminals across the city.

During inspections, officials emphasised that vehicles must not exceed their passenger capacity; air-conditioned buses must provide proper cooling facilities, and fares must be charged strictly as per the government-approved rates.

They warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators of the directives.

The officials said the initiative was part of the administration’s broader campaign to enhance public services and curb exploitation by transport operators.

HELD: Two men were arrested on the charge of assaulting an elderly man after a video of that incident went viral on social media.

According to a spokesman for the police, district police officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada took notice of a video and directed Paharpur SP Irfan Khan and DSP Noor Haider Khan to ensure immediate arrest of culprits.

The DSP and his team successfully arrested two suspects, including Furqan Ali and Shahzaib.

The police said one suspect was directly involved in the assault, while the other filmed it.

The DPO said the police were committed to protecting public life and dignity.

“Such acts of violence will not be tolerated, and those responsible will face the full force of the law,” he said.
