THIS is with reference to the report “COAS elevated to field marshal for ‘decisive role’ in Marka-i-Haq” (May 21). The elevation of the army chief is a testament to his strategic foresight and command during times of profound national crisis. Even before the retaliatory strikes, he displayed unwavering resolve, publicly affirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. His powerful statements set the stage for Pakistan’s robust and decisive response.
The decision to launch a large-scale, coordinated strike within a remarkably short timeframe after the Indian attacks was a testament to the military’s exceptional preparedness. This rapid response was far from impulsive; it was a meticulously calibrated plan, designed to inflict proportional damage while avoiding civilian casualties and averting an all-out war.
The targeting of 26 specific sites in northern India, including key air force bases, military logistics hubs, and advanced air defence systems, highlighted a laser focus on precision and strategic impact. This was not random bombardment, but a calculated effort to degrade India’s offensive capabilities and challenge its perceived military superiority.
In short, due coordination with other branches of the armed forces, and a seamless integration of cyber capabilities into conventional military operations showcased the army chief’s deep under- standing of the evolving landscape of modern warfare and Pakistan’s advanced preparedness in all crucial domains.
