OKARA: Two alleged dacoits were killed in separate police encounters on Friday night.

The police said that a night patrolling team, headed by the SHO, received a call that two dacoits had snatched cash and a motorcycle from a passerby in the vicinity of Hujra Shah Muqeem police station.

The police team intercepted the dacoits near Sahiniwal Road where the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party. The police retaliated and afterwards found one injured suspect on the scene.

The suspect, identified as Muhammad Amin alias Bhandi, succumbed to bullet injuries when he was being shifted to the Hujra Rural Health Centre (RHC).

Police said the other suspect escaped in the cover of darkness, however, the suspect identified his accomplice as Altaf, a resident of village Quatab Chishti, before his death.

Police claimed to have recovered a Kalashnikov, cash, CNIC and the motorcycle of the victim.

Police registered a case on the report of Hujra SHO Hafiz Athar.

In another incident, Shahbore police night crime checking team received an information that three armed men looted a citizen near village 33/4L.

Police claimed that near Rajba Road, the team spotted the suspects and after a brief shootout found the body of one of the suspects. The police claimed that the suspect was killed in firing by his accomplices.

Police claimed to have recovered the snatched motorcycle, a weapon and bullets, CNIC, cash and a mobile phone.The police said the alleged dacoit was identified as Zulqurnain who was wanted in 26 heinous crimes in Okara, Sahiwal and Lahore.

He was also a proclaimed offender in a dacoity case registered at Bahadar Shah police station.
