LAKKI MARWAT: A teenage boy drowned in a rainwater pond in the Sarikhwa area of Karak district on Saturday.

A Rescue 1122 official said they sent a team of divers when locals informed the control room about the incident. He said after hectic efforts, the divers pulled out the body from the pond and handed it over to relatives.

The official identified the deceased as Muzammil, 14, a resident of Matcher Banda area.

Also on Saturday, the rescue emergency service launched a drive in Karak district to sensitise people to precautions of avoiding extreme heat and heat waves.

The awareness drive was launched on the instructions of district emergency officer Atif Sardar.
