LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday stayed a syndicate meeting of the University of Agricultural Faisalabad being held without the presence of its pro-vice chancellor.

Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi passed the injunctive order on a petition filed by Pro-VC Dr Sarwar Khan, who is also a dean faculty of agriculture department of the university.

Advocate Safdar Shaheen Pirzada appeared on behalf of the petitioner and argued that a petition of his client against sending him on a forced leave preparatory retirement (LPR) was pending adjudication before the high court.

However, he said, the respondent vice chancellor convened a meeting of the university syndicate for May 17 without inviting the petitioner with mala fide intention.

The counsel argued that the VC could not restrain any syndicate member from attending its meeting. He asked the court to order the respondent to allow the petitioner to attend the syndicate meeting being the pro-VC as well as the dean. Justice Sethi issued notices to the respondents and ordered to maintain a status quo in the matter.

He directed the registrar office to fix the matter along with all pending petitions on May 20.
