LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Friday approved nine development schemes of roads sector with an estimated cost of Rs13.67 billion.

The PDWP meeting chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Awan approved dualisation of 14.61-kilometre Lahore-Jaranwala Road from Mandi Faizabad to Mangranwala, Nankana Sahib, at an estimated cost of Rs1.163bn.

Rehabilitation/Improvement of 26km Sahiwal-Arifwala Road to Harappa Bypass via Malan Shah Chowk, Sahiwal district, at an estimated cost of Rs1.09bn.

Rehabilitation/Improvement of 23.75km road from Sheikhupura-Sargodha Road at Farooqabad to Tehsil Safdarabad, Sheikhupura District, at an estimated cost of Rs1.512bn.

The working party approved rehabilitation/improvement of 19.5kms of Safdarabad-Manawala Road, Sheikhupura, at an estimated cost of Rs1.18bn.

Rehabilitation of 34km road from District Boundary Chiniot to Tahli Adda District Boundary via Sial Mor, Midh Ranjha, Hilalpur, Sargodha, at an estimated cost of Rs1.94bn.

It approved widening and improvement of 34.4 kilometers Sahiwal to Shahpur Road, Sargodha, at an estimated cost of Rs1.9bn. The rehabilitation/restoration of 14.05km Sangla Hill-Safdarabad Road, Nankana Sahib, has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs1.22 billion.

Rehabilitation of 59km road from Tandlianwala (at Jallah Chowk) to Kamalia via Zaffar Chowk, Mamukanjan, Faisalabad district, will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs1.82b.

Dualization of 10.8km from Taxila to HMC Farooqia Road, Rawalpindi district, will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs1.86bn.

The meeting was attended by P&D Board Secretary Dr Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, board members and other senior officers.
