RAWALPINDI: Within a span of four days, another woman and her infant daughter were killed and her husband injured after a recklessly-driven dumper knocked them down in Naseerabad on Thursday.
Earlier on Monday, Fauzia Qamar, a schoolteacher, and her son Amjad Ali, a college student, while going home on a motorcycle were hit and killed by a dumper on Haider Road. The rickshaw driver along with two other persons was seriously injured. A large number of people gathered on the road and protested in front of traffic wardens.
On Thursday, Mohammad Imran, a Pakistan Army soldier, lodged an FIR with the Naseerabad police stating that he and his wife Rehana and daughter Ishal Fatima were going to CMH on their motorcycle when a recklessly-driven dumper hit them from behind near Kohi Noor Textile Mills. He said he sustained minor injuries while his wife and daughter died on the spot.
This was the second such road traffic accident involving dumpers in which a mother and her daughter were killed.
Residents say these lives might not have been lost if the traffic police had performed their duties diligently instead of concentrating only on issuing tickets to motorcyclists and collecting fines.
