RAWALPINDI: The Governments of Pakistan and Bharat have agreed to exchange “at an early date” all prisoners of war held by the two Governments, it was reliably learned here today [May 12]. At their meeting in Karachi last month, the two Prime Ministers of Pakistan and Bharat … discussed the [repatriation of] Muslims and non-Muslims wishing to return to … Azad Kashmir and Bharat-held parts of the state.
The Government of Pakistan … have decided to repatriate non-Muslims who were left behind in Gilgit and Skardu and now wish to return to their homes in the Bharat-held part of Kashmir. It has also been agreed … to repatriate all Muslim families who are stranded or detained in Bharat or Bharat held Kashmir to their homes in liberated Kashmir.
[Meanwhile, according to news agencies in Chicago,] Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan’s strenuous tour of Washington, New York and Chicago has given him better insight into American life but also a set of sore feet. The PM cut short a Press conference on Thursday [May 11] … because a foot doctor was standing by his hotel suite to administer to the aches … he acquired in his perambulations in the past nine days.
