ISLAMABAD: Pakistan today [May 8] reaffirmed its determination to continue its endeavours, together with other peace-loving nations, in resisting domination, exploitation and aggression, from whatever source these might arise. A Foreign Office statement … also reiterated the Government’s … espousal of a world order based on … justice and progress. The statement has been made to mark the 30th anniversary of the end of the Second World War… . … The statement said … “we pay tribute to all those who made heroic sacrifices in the struggle against Nazism, militarism, and aggression. … Yet the world has continued to be afflicted by strife and suffering. Aggression and the use of force has persisted in international relations because … justice and equity have been eroded through indifference or abuse”.

[Meanwhile as reported by news agencies from Hyderabad,] the entire Hyderabad region is in the grip of an oppressive heat wave… . The highest temperature this month was recorded yesterday [May 7, at] 113 degrees Fahrenheit. … Meanwhile ice, ice cream and cold drinks are in great demand and their prices are soaring.
