WATERLINE BURST: The 84-inch water pipeline burst near the Staff Colony of the University of Karachi led to the flooding of faculty residences, causing significant damage to household property, and forcing many families to relocate temporarily. The water supply to several parts of Karachi remained suspended, impacting daily life. It is imperative that the relevant authorities take immediate steps to address the vulnerabilities in the city’s infrastructure. Regular maintenance and timely upgrades of essential utilities, like water pipelines, are crucial to preventing such incidents. Moreover, there should be a transparent investigation into the causes of the pipeline burst to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.

CHAMPIONS OF DEMOCRACY: Western countries often claim they are the torchbearers of human rights, freedom of speech, justice and peace. However, these very countries are blind to the blatant violation of human rights, freedom, justice and peace in Palestine, especially in Gaza. The Palestinians are being brutally slaughtered, but its conscience allows the West to stay away from even condemning the atrocities being committed by Israel. In fact, the West keeps supporting the Zionist regime. The self-proclaimed champions of democracy are not even interested in keeping their biases under cover. We should recognise their true faces, and act accordingly.

DISAPPOINTED STUDENTS: The Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) in Quetta abruptly postponed the intermediate exams. The announcement came at a time when the students had already reached their examination centres. The disappointed students went back to their respective cities. After some days, the board issued another notice about the fresh date of exams. How can the students now afford to travel to their examination centres again in such a short duration?
