KARACHI May 5: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where three ships carrying containers, edible oil and furnace oil were allotted berths at QICT, MPT and Fotco oil terminal on Thursday.

Meanwhile three more container ships arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours. Berth occupancy remained high at 89 per cent. A total of nine ships were berthed to load/offload containers, rice, sugar, edible oil, furnace oil and chemicals, respectively.

The port handled a cargo volume of 55,870 tons comprising 30,353 tons of import cargo and 25,517 tons of exports including cargo carried in 1,237 containers, said a PQA announcement.
