TOBA TEK SINGH: Eight female students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) were seriously injured in separate attacks by stray dogs near their hostels on Monday and Tuesday.

The injured students were shifted to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.

As per UAF sources, four students were injured by stray dogs on Monday, while as many others were bitten on Tuesday.

UAF spokesperson Jahanzaib Tariq claimed that the varsity administration has taken notice of the incident and launched a crackdown on stray dogs on the campus.

He said the stray dogs had entered the UAF campus from the gate of Youngwala locality adjacent to the varsity, which has now been sealed.

He said the VC has constituted a committee to take measures to check such attacks in future and ordered action against the UAF employees responsible for the incident.

He said all the injured students had been discharged from the hospital.

SUSPENDED: Punjab home secretary on Tuesday suspended deputy superintendent of Khanewal District Jail, along with three other officials, on the charges of inefficiency, negligence and misconduct.

The action against the four jail officials was taken under under section 6 of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (Peeda) Act 2006.

They included deputy superintendent Arshad Hussain, assistant superintendent Shahzad Ahmad head warder Mazhar Iqbal Lunaywala and in charge head warder Muhammad Shafiq.
